Q345R Pressure Vessel Heads Shipped to Central Asia: Elliptical and Dished Heads

Recently, we completed the production and shipment of a batch of Q345R pressure vessel heads for a customer in Central Asia.

The order included both elliptical heads and dished heads, manufactured according to the customer's drawings and technical requirements.

Before loading, our production and quality teams checked the finished heads, including dimensions, thickness, appearance and forming condition. After inspection, the products were properly protected and loaded for export transportation.

Q345R Pressure Vessel Heads for Industrial Equipment

Q345R is a commonly used pressure vessel steel grade in China and is designed for pressure vessel applications.

In this shipment, Q345R steel was used to manufacture two different head shapes:

• Elliptical heads

• Dished heads

The actual shape and dimensions of a pressure vessel head depend on the design of the equipment.

Pressure vessel heads are commonly used in equipment such as:

• Pressure vessels

• Storage tanks

Elliptical Heads and Dished Heads

Elliptical heads and dished heads are both widely used in industrial tanks and pressure vessels, but their geometry is different.

An elliptical head has an elliptical profile and is commonly selected for pressure vessel applications where a curved end is required.

A dished head, also known as a torispherical head in many applications, has a dish-shaped profile with a transition between the central dish area and the cylindrical shell.

The choice of head type depends on the vessel design, operating conditions, applicable standard and customer's engineering requirements.

For this project, both types were manufactured in Q345R material.

Inspection Before Loading

Before the products left our factory, we carried out the necessary inspections according to the order requirements.

The inspection process included checking:

• Outside diameter

• Overall dimensions

• Head depth

• Material thickness

• Surface condition

• Forming quality

• Edge condition

For customized pressure vessel heads, dimensional accuracy is particularly important because the heads need to match the vessel shell during fabrication.

We also checked the products again during the loading process to make sure there was no obvious damage after handling.

Preparing the Heads for Export

Pressure vessel heads are large and relatively heavy steel components. During international transportation, they may be exposed to lifting, loading, unloading and vibration.

Therefore, suitable packing and fixing are important.

For this shipment, the heads were arranged and secured according to their size and loading conditions. Protective measures were also used where necessary to reduce the possibility of scratches or other surface damage during transportation.

Loading the Container

One of the more important parts of this shipment was arranging the heads efficiently inside the container.

Because pressure vessel heads have a curved shape, loading is different from loading regular boxes or flat steel products. The available space needs to be considered carefully, while the products also need to be properly supported and secured.

Our workers checked the position of the heads during loading and made adjustments where necessary.

The final goal is simple: make full use of the container space while keeping the products stable throughout transportation.
